Aeration
What is Lawn Aeration?
Lawn aeration is a fundamental practice in green space maintenance, especially on compacted or heavily trafficked ground. It involves strategically perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate directly to the grassroots. This fosters a healthy underground environment that stimulates root development and improves the lawn’s density, color, and resilience.
It’s a service that, although not immediately visible, has a significant impact on the health and vitality of the garden.
Our Professional Aeration Process
1. Lawn evaluation: We inspect the condition of the soil, identify compacted areas, and analyze factors such as soil type, watering frequency, and foot traffic to define the appropriate approach.
2. Area preparation: We mow the lawn to an ideal height before aeration and remove debris such as branches or stones that might interfere with the process.
3. Soil perforation: We use core aerators that extract small soil plugs approximately 2–3 inches deep and deposit them on the surface. This technique is much more effective than spike aerators, as it breaks up soil compaction without damaging it.
4. Recommendation of complementary treatments: Depending on the condition of the lawn, we may recommend overseeding, fertilization, or light mulching to maximize the benefits of aeration.
5. Cleanup and follow-up: We leave the area clean and provide post-service recommendations for watering and lawn care in the following days.

Importance and Benefits of Aeration
- Soil decompaction: Loosens compressed soil, allowing roots to expand and breathe better.
- Improves absorption: Enhances infiltration of water and fertilizers, improving root nutrition.
- Stimulates healthy growth: Contributes to a stronger, denser lawn that resists diseases, pests, and droughts.
- Reduces thatch: Decreases the accumulation of surface organic material that blocks air and moisture.
- Increases lawn resilience: Ideal for high-traffic lawns such as family gardens, recreational, or commercial areas.
Aeration is not a luxury—it’s a necessity for achieving a green, dense, and long-lasting lawn. Trust Jason E Landscaping Corp to apply this technique with precision, care, and experience.
